AC Motors

During the late 1889's AC motors began to be added to the back of sewing machines. Today mechanical machines commonly have the AC motor enclosed under the covers. The motor is composed of a shaft, with wire coil around it, and an armature at one end. Carbon brushes are fitted to rub against the armature to create movement as the electric current alternates direction.
