What About Industrial Machines?

Dual Hook System

About 25% of our students are factory mechanics sent to us for training on their sewing equipment. Industrial sewing machines often look very intimidating. They are usually bigger, heavier, rougher, and are mounted on special tables. The machine above actually has two top loading rotary hooks. The needle does not even enter the hook area. Most sewers are familiar with top loading machines, but this looks strange. Yet, the same principles for setting timing, hook-needle clearance, needle height, etc still apply. In the case above, the needle drops down between the hooks and the outer edge of the hook picks up the thread instead of the familiar design. Same principles.
